Babies Don't Keep

Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,

Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?

Horse Play

Chivas and Sam are off to Columbus this weekend to a BBQ competition. Chap and I have been fine without em' though! Don't know how tonight will be though...I'm such a scaredy cat when it comes to staying by myself at night. You would think a Doberman Pinscher, an alarm system, and a gun would make me feel a little better. They don't.
Anywho...today we went to Joe and Malinda Ivey's cabin to see Matt, Jenny, and baby Addy Grace ( precious girl!). Plus, the kiddos wanted to pet the horses. It was such a beautiful day...other than the pollen...which by the way is about to kill me!!! I am LOVING Spring Break and I'm sad that I have to go back to reality Monday. I'm going to miss my sweet baby and my little Sambo. :(

This year we hunted Easter eggs early while Madelyn was in town. They had SO much fun...the big kids were running around looking like American Gladiators...tackling each other desperate for just one more egg!


I've discovered that I should give up all hopes of Sam and a good photo.
Not happening. Just get used to the top of his head folks...

Meine Familie

He loves to steal my camera and take some shots on it...Some of them aren't so bad...some of them are!

We decided to let Sam play buddy ball this year. Last year Sam was just too immature for sports. He would be exhausted and ready for bed at 7 pm and we knew a ball game would send him over the cliff! So the other night I was helping him with his bath and I informed him that this year he was going to get to play baseball...oh. my. GOOD. LORD...
He shot up like a rocket ship out of the bathtub waving his hands in the air like a Whitfield resident! With the widest grin streaking across his precious little face he screamed "I have been waiting for this day all my life! For fifty thousand years MOMMA!"
Laughter abounds...
I dream about the day I get to sit at the ball field and watch my boys play. They might not be the biggest kids on the block but dang it my boys can THROW a ball! Yes, I said BOYS...ask any member of my family...when Chap throws something we all flinch in fear of losing an eye!
My dreams of being baseball Mom are coming true....

When I find something I like I am OBSESSED with it! One of my life's ambitions...attending a major horse race....Kentucky Derby and The Breeders Cup specifically. Animal Planet has just launched a new show, Jockeys. Yippeee! I LOVE it! It is SO fascinating and yep, you guessed it...educational! Did you know that they only get paid if they place 1st through 4th??? Talk about pressure on the job! And when they do place they only get 10% of the purse. It also fascinates me that they start SO YOUNG...Joe Talamo...who is one of the most wanted jockeys right now is only 18! Can you imagine winning a $150,00 purse in about 2 minutes at 18 years old?? Veteran jockey Jon Court began as a jockey at 16 yrs old. My favorite horse is Curlin...riden by Robby Albarado who began his jockey career at 12 yrs old! New episodes of JOCKEYS comes on Animal Planet on Friday nights.

Friends,
Recently I started using the ever-so-wise Angie Smith's 7 prayers for children. If you haven't already (which I know that many of you have) please visit Angie's Blog Bring The Rain (simply click on the BTR sign on my sidebar). It honors her precious baby girl, Audrey Caroline, who went to be with our KING shortly after her life began. Her story has inspired COUNTLESS people and according to Angie, has brought so many people to GOD. I suggest you begin from the very beginning of her blog and make your way to the most recent posts. I promise it will be a life-changing experience. Anywhoooo...just wanted to share the prayers with you. Insert your child's name as needed...

1. When they wake up: "Let the morning bring Sam word of your unfailing love, for he has put his trust in You. Show him the way he should go, for to you he lifts up his soul." (Adapted from Psalm 143:8)

2. When they are getting dressed: "Therefore, as God's chosen child, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Lord, help him bear with others and forgive whatever grievances he has against others. Help him forgive as the Lord forgave him. At our friends Jamie and Jason Millers wedding...with a very tired Sambo in my lap...

Tomorrow is our 5 year wedding anniversary! Life has absolutely flown past us...
Chivas and I have been through so much together. We started off in marriage SO young an inexperienced in life...and our GOD has blessed us with a love that is stronger than we could have ever imagined it would be. I cannot imagine a life without him...even when marriage is difficult (and believe me it can be!) we seem to make it through and remember the union that GOD intended.
We met in May of 2003 on a cruise ship and knew from that point on that we were going to spend the rest of our lives with one another...and so the story goes...2 precious boys together...happily ever after...

One little snowflake with nothing to do. Along came another and then there were two...

Oh my good gracious it snowed in Kosciusko! I feel so silly being so excited about barely an inch of snow...but ya'll...I can't help myself! It is so rare here! The best part about snow is watching the reaction of Sam when he woke up to a winter wonderland. Chivas and I grabbed some warm clothes for the kids and bolted out the door at 7 a.m. to go to Nana and Pops house to sled down the hills behind their house. It started to melt so quickly and by 9 or 10 am it was just like any other cold snow-less winter morning...Maybe next year we'll get more:-(
